Park City, Utah. Ali Goulet and the Wasatch Area Ruff Ryders (W.A.R.R.) present the Beehive state’s first annual BELL Wasatch Enduro at Canyons Resort on July 21, 2012 in beautiful Park City, Utah.
The newest stop on the N.A.E.T. (North American Enduro Tour) schedule, the BELL Wasatch Enduro Race at Canyons Resort blends the excitement of downhill with the fitness demands of cross-country. With Bell Sports as a title sponsor, expect to see some of the continent’s most well-rounded riders battle it out for over $12K in cash and prizes.
Several presenting sponsors will also be backing the event, including PROBAR, Pivot Cycles, ENVE Composites and Demon United. Supporting sponsors include Osprey Packs, LOOK, Continental Tires, Red Bull, Tifosi Optics, Epic Brewing, GORE Bike Wear, vitaminwater and Go-Ride.com.
Enduro combines several mountain bike disciplines into one event, attracting dirt-craving cyclists from all backgrounds. Renowned for camaraderie amongst riders and a friendly atmosphere, the race will prove to be challenging, yet fun for greenhorns and died-in-the-wool mountain bikers alike.
Based around the European rally-style format, the event features three timed Competition Stages (descents) linked by three Transfer Stages (climbs). The Transfer Stages are not factored into the overall time, but there is a set time limit. The 17-mile course promises 1,300-feet of climbing and 3,200-feet of technical descents. Professional chip timing by Authentic Sports Timing will allow racers, support crew and spectators to check accurate, up to date results after each stage.
Race categories will include Men’s and Women’s Pro, Amateur Men (under 30/30+/40+) and Amateur Women (category expansion dependent upon participation). Entry fee is $65 (no license required) and includes an athlete gift, post race meal, beverage and raffle. In addition, Canyons Resort will host a live concert featuring See-I in the Resort Village at 6:00pm. See-I is a reggae outfit with Caribbean roots, based out of Washington D.C. Other activities at Canyons include Canyons Bike Park, a family putting course, Zip Tour, guided hiking and riding and more. There is also on-site licensed childcare available for all future superstars.
Registration for the Bell Wasatch Enduro at the Canyons Resort opens May 21st at 8pm (mountain time) online at Athlete360.
