The course was in magnificant shape until the rain hit, good old Mount Washington style. That’s ok, it just makes things more interesting, like I heard, the 2006 National Champ, Andrew Mitchell, cracked his helmet in two in a practice run.
I hiked up the course over slippery roots, through sopping bushes and a mud filled trail on Friday to watch the juniors and pros and just to get some pics for you guys to understand how challenging this course is. It didn’t seem to stop anyone from ripping up the track for some seriously fast times.
Really it is just a matter of who bails and who stays on the bike, here are the ones who held on:
