Choose Canada’s flag bearer – today’s voting options

It’s one of the highest honours an athlete can receive: carrying his or her country’s flag into the opening ceremony at an Olympic Games. With so many deserving Canadians up for the job in 2012, we want to know: who do you think should carry the Canadian flag in London on July 27?

We’ll find out what Canada thinks over the next few weeks, as each day we face off two athletes against each other in a bracket-style tournament. Most votes wins the matchup, until one athlete remains: your choice for Canada’s flag bearer.

Check back every weekday to vote on the latest pairing and follow your favourite athletes through the bracket.

Today’s showdown pits top women’s seed Christine Sinclair – the all-time leader in goals and caps for the women’s national soccer team – against Catharine Pendrel – the reigning mountain bike world champion..
