Not ready to let summer and the ride season to end yet? Are you looking for training for the upcoming CX season? Or are you just super fit right now from all the Strava segments you’ve been crushing?
Over the past two years, FVMBA has been hosting some super fun, low key, Grassroots racing through our Spring Series. One of our favorite races has been on Sumas Mnt. But being so early in the year, we have been unlucky with the weather to be able to utilize all of the trails that make Sumas so great.
With the success of Squid Line, we figure now is the perfect time to host another race up on Sumas.
What are you doing on September 23rd at 10am? FVMBA and Mission Springs Brewery are excited to present the Sumas Smack Down. 18kms of Sumas goodness. A mass start event that will include a KOM split and a Super D split down Knob Gobbler and Squidline. This race will be longer than any of our Spring Series events. It will fit perfectly with all the fitness you have right now from a summer chocked full of riding.
As usual, FVMBA membership and a Cycling BC license will required. Our standard categories of Open Men/Women and Junior will be returning. But we will also be included a sub category for those who enjoy the not-so-competitive side of racing. Enter the Heavy Pedal. Rider and bike must weigh 210lbs +. You will be expected to weigh in at registration to qualify for this sub category.
FVMBA has had some extremely supportive sponsors the past couple years that have contributed to our racing success. Returning for the Sumas Smack Down is Pinkbike.com, Avenue Body Shop, Kintec, Lifecycles.
New for this fall, FVMBA is pleased to be partnering with Mission Springs Brewery as our new title sponsor of our Spring Series and all things racing & trailbuilding. We will also partnering with Cap-it & Thule, Doc’s Auto Body and Clif Bar for the Sumas Smack Down.
By registering, you will not only get a chance to claim some bragging rights, but you will also get free lunch, a swag bag and an entry to win a $500 Thule hitch rack from Cap-It.
