After a one year hiatus to make way for the construction efforts of new condo facilities, Northstar at Tahoe has reopened the mountain to mountain bikes and reinstated its summer race series. Not only has Northstar brought back mtb, they have made some major upgrades which include:
• Five new trail segments
• Two full new trails
• Increased lift access with the addition of the Tahoe Zephyr Express
• Skills development areas, allowing those who want to get started with log and ladder rides to learn in less intimidating fashion as the features are much closer to the ground
• Saturday hours extended to 5:00 p.m.
Coming Soon:
•LiveWire, Northstar Resort’s first signature trail is scheduled to open mid-summer, permits pending, and will feature table tops and large berms throughout course of the run. This mountain bike trail will offer riders a “tacky” trail for superior traction and a smoother ride.
•A new jump park located at mid-mountain between the bases of the Vista Express and Tahoe Zephyr Express chairlifts will also provide riders with an opportunity to practice their latest tricks
“We are extremely excited to bring mtb racing back to the mountain and thank all those who have helped to ensure its future success”, reports Dahpne Skinner, Sponsorship and Promotions Coordinator for the mountain.
Known for its rocky and dusty terrain, Northstar will aim to be a premier venue for mountain biking by providing top notch racing along with a multitude of trails for all comers regardless of their riding ability. Northstar’s fast and rocky trails have helped become a proving ground for Gamut chainguides and will continue to be used as one of the primary testing locations for Gamut’s evolving product line.
“It’s great to see Northstar taking the initiative to get the bikes back on the mountain and provide affordable racing for all. Gamut is excited to help promote the mountain as it is once again a key riding destination for those on west coast and beyond.” Mateo Graziosi Gamut co-founder.
