Ladies Day at the Coast Gravity Park

On Saturday October 18th, a group of Muddbunnies packed up their cars and trucks and hoped a ferry to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy one of its newest bike additions… the Coast Gravity Park.

Not knowing what to expect, but full of anticipation and excitement, we arrived at the park and signed in.

Not waiting very long at the shuttle loading area meant that we got lots of riding in!

After heading to the shuttle pick up area, we were on our way for the first of our laps. We started on Mr. Green before riding every blue and red in the park multiple times! Everything was flowy and fast, and so much fun. Not waiting very long at the shuttle loading area meant that we got lots of riding in!

Now that’s what I call a trailer full of fun

My favorite trail combo of the day was Red Dragon, Hand job and Hot lap. Although I didn’t try all the blacks (have to leave something for next time), we did ride Devil’s Elbow and it was a great trail with a couple more technical features, but nothing scary! The trails do an awesome job of building confidence in the riders, and I left feeling so much more confident on my DH bike.

The ladies in the shuttles, Muddbunnies representing!!!

The facilities are still a work in process, but the porta-potties are clean, there is just enough cover at the shuttle pick up spot, and the BBQ lunches were delicious. After a couple laps I stopped for a burger, opting to keep my soup for an after riding snack. Although a bit pricey, 15$ gets you a fabulous burger and a side (our options that day were butternut squash soup or potato salad) I would have paid the same at the GLC for a burger in Whistler.

Mirka, Rachel and I. The shuttle is half the fun!

We were told that we should leave the park at 3 pm to be sure to make the 4.30 ferry. At 2.40, Rachel and I had to squeeze in one last lap before heading home. We contemplated taking the later ferry, but plans in Vancouver kept me from giving into this temptation. Seriously, the riding was so much fun, I took absolutely zero photos, refusing to give up precious riding time. Lap after lap, huge smile on my face, I just wanted to keep going!

Thanks Rachel for snapping this pic of me as we were heading out! Smiles for miles… can’t wait to get back here.

Thank you so much to Coast Gravity Park and their wonderful staff for taking such great care of us. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and took he time to talk to you about the trails and the park. What an amazing day! I will definitely be back… Bunnies and Friends, keep your eyes open for a destination ride to the CGP in the new year!
