Machu Picchu & Last Ride Day in Peru
Finally the strike was over and we were able to go to Machu Picchu! We took an early morning train to Aguas Calientes, where we caught a bus up to Machu Picchu. It was certainly very touristy, but still quite enchanting. The weather was all sorts of crazy. Lots of thunder and lightning!

Our guide was waiting for us at the end of the train ride! (he wasn’t interested in posing with the sign :))

After getting off the train, we had to catch a bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu – the line for the bus was LONG

On the way back down, there had been a train derailment, so all of the returning trains were delayed. It was very late by the time we got back to our lodging (not so good for my need for sleep ;))

After a very late night return to our hotel, we slept in (until 7am) ,packed up and loaded our luggage (into a vehicle that will shuttle it to our hotel in Cusco) and loaded up for our final day of riding in the Sacred Valley.

Have you ever thought about traveling internationally with you bike? I highly recommend it! It’s the best way to see another country! I’d be happy to chat with anyone about my experience in Peru, or any of my other international bike trip.
I’m already thinking about what’s next!!! Ecuador? Italy? New Zealand?
Thanks Big Mountain Bike Adventures for planning yet another incredible, and unforgettable trip!
