The Life Cycle Project is a short documentary film about a 39 year old female (Debora De Napoli) who embarks on an adventure of a lifetime which combines what she is most passionate about; her family, taking a stand on Ovarian Cancer, filmmaking, and her deep love of the outdoors. Life Cycle, is a fundraising event that consists of the creation of a film documenting my journey mountain biking through the Rocky Mountains, from initial training to physical transformation to voyage, all while striving to raise awareness and funds for (ovarian) cancer research.
Having lost my mother, an aunt and three uncles to ovarian and colon cancer; a cousin who is currently winning her battle with ovarian cancer; and, my sister recently being found to have the same genetic mutation, my life has been dramatically affected by this disease.
Rather than accept the horrific effects of this disease, I have dedicated to start up a campaign building awareness around the importance of early screening while raising funds for research to help eradicate cancer. Life Cycle is set for July 2012; Thirteen breathtaking days, traveling through the Rockies raising funds and awareness of ovarian cancer. I intend to document this challenge at every turn.
The end result of the documentary film (not yet named) is to submit it to the Banff Mountain Film Festival, among others, to share my story of a woman on a mountain biking journey of her lifetime, overcoming the emotional effects of family taken too soon, while finding her clarity biking the Rocky Mountains.
Life Cycle is recognized by the Canadian Cancer Society as an individual event with no funding or other grants to access at this time. With the objective of this project being to generate funds for the Canadian Cancer Society and ovarian Cancer research, I am operating on a zero budget and am looking for support in any way possible. Every ounce of support is of value, as I cannot do it without the kindness of personal or business donations; supplying equipment, services or monetary support.
