Up here in the great white north, our off season training usually consists of several intense gym sessions per week, mixed in with a few wet rides here and there. A challenge we have always encountered is that our bike specific gym workouts usually leave us completely spent, and often even our bike rides are not as intense as we would have hoped. Based on this, we have been challenged to look outside of the box, in hopes of finding a way to train for our gym training. In essence we are training for training and we call this on-bike training for off-bike training. This is serious, serious business.
For any of you who are familiar with the ever so redundant edits in which riders get out of bed and load their bikes in their truck, please note that we saved you the pain. But I can tell you that we did in fact get out of bed twice each day, and we also loaded our bikes not just once, but 6 times just to be on top of our game. Also, it must be mentioned that for fitness purposes we did in fact ride our DH bikes on a multitude of cross country trails. As mentioned before, this is serious business.
