Trail Conditions

Early season trail conditions are in effect up high, with the top 25% of Big NIMBY and the entire road out to Overnight Sensation still under about a foot of snow. All lower trails, including Overnight Sensation, are 100% clear. In fact, Pemby trail are in absolutely amazing, tacky shape. It only gets dusty from here! Just be sure to watch out for downed trees in spots. For the latest trail conditions follow us on Twitter or Facebook and also checkout The Bike Co’s trail conditions page.

New Trails!

This spring a number of new trails in the Pemberton Valley have been revealed. One of these is called “Pioneer” – a flowy black diamond descent off of K2 (near Lumpy’s) which leads right into the resurrected “Grey Zone” trail built by the PVTA’s Stephan Desjardins. Another is “Cross Town Traffic” – a new school blue trail found just at the end of Radio Tower as you come out of the woods, built by the PVTA’s Chris Allen. Then there’s Moose Jah. This trail emerged a couple years ago and has been evolving ever since, under the TLC of a couple of local trail builders who spent every clear day up there this winter carving as much flow into the mountain side as they could – when not training their butts off for NIMBY Fifty of course!

Important note: these new trails are NOT part of the NIMBY Fifty race course. We’re mentioning them simply to share the joy. Add some variety to your training or next ride in Pemby, and go check them out!

Modified Race Course

We mentioned this way back in January. We built a new trail specifically for the NIMBY Fifty course. It begins just past the Paraglide Launch and eliminates a good portion of fire road descent that takes you to Overnight Sensation. This trail still needs a name plus some final buffing, and once the snow clears we’ll be up there finishing it off in time for race day.

Another change to the course is the elimination of the Dark Forest descent. That trail was wiped out due to logging in June of last year. We’re still considering a few options as far as what the re-route there will be. Once a decision on that is reached we’ll announce it via our Blog, Facebook, Twitter and Email.

Where to stay in Pemberton

If you’re into camping, your best bet is Nairn Falls Provincial Park located just outside of Pemberton, a sub 10 minute drive to North Arm Farm (race start/finish area). There will NOT be any camping at North Arm Farm.

If you’d like a hot shower and some serious comfort, we’ve got you covered. Pemberton Valley Lodge, located less than 5 minutes away from North Arm Farm, is now our official accommodation partner. As such they’re offering special rates to NIMBY Fifty racers who book ahead of time. Give them a call and mention NIMBY Fifty. Check them out online at
