Nick Goertzen finally breaks the Tyler Gorz win streak as Layne Nyhaug takes the Women’s title.
Pump Race #9 started with the sun shining straight into the riders eyes and ended with two riders that luckily wore bright gear so we could actually see them railing the track after the sun dropped like a rock.
A record number of riders showed up and split the group into 3 brackets. Long time mid pack pros were forced into the open class by a flurry of rookie rocket pump racers who showed up to their hand at pump racing.
5 time pump track champ Tyler Gorz, suffering from torn ligaments, didn’t hold anything back as he wowed the crowd with his double manuals and fresh fashion sense. National BMX #3, Damian “Polar Bear” Lachance, fresh from his move from Ottawa, dialed in the track and pulled in a 4th place in pro. And Layne Nyhaug, railed her way through the pedalers class to take over the women’s championship.
Here’s how it all looked after someone turned on a flashlight:
Pedaling Class:
1st Layne Nyhaug
2nd Paige Zarazun
3rd Aiden MacDonald
4th Judy Garren
