The SCOTT Contessa sponsored Tough Girl Cycling team spent July racking up their share of podium real estate while making themselves known in Wisconsin, Colorado and North Carolina. Here’s their July race report from Lynn Bush, Tough Girl Team Manager.
First off starting in Wausau, WI the 9 Mile County Forest played host to the 24 Hour Mountain Bike National Championships. Tough Girl had a huge presence sending two teams in attempt to grab a few National titles! Tough Girl had success taking the National Title in the Duo Women’s category with Janis Sandlin and Amy Robillard completing 8 laps each! Coming in with a lot of pressure as defending National Champions, 4 person team Lisa Matlock, Jane Rynbrandt, Holly Harveno, and Lynn Bush fought a fierce battle aboard their Contessa Sparks coming just short and finishing a very respectable second place.
Combine 24 hour racing with 4 days of driving… and 24 Hour Nationals became a whirlwind tour that will not soon be forgotten!
Full Tilt in Telluride, CO… stop #5 of the Mountain States Cup, brought out the best results yet for Pro Tough Girl Sonya Looney! Covered head to toe in some of the yukiest mud… Sonya still managed to pull off 4th place in the women’s XC race on Saturday. And Sunday’s Hill Climb brought even better results as Sonya climbed her hardest Placing 3rd in the stacked field!
Sugar Mountain, NC NMBS #5… Tough Girls mixing it up in different disciplines… Tough Girl gravity rider Cathy Cantway takes 3rd in the Women’s Open Dual Slalom throwing it down with an injured hand.
