Last weekend saw the first round of the UCI Downhill World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Tracey Hannah (AUS) produced a lung-busting performance to win the first downhill event, despite a four year long absence from DH racing.
Australian rider Hannah beat Manon Carpenter (GBR) by almost a second on the treacherous course, with Emmeline Ragot (FRA) almost two seconds back from Carpenter.
“I’m so exhausted,†Hannah, barely able to speak after her efforts, commented after the final. “I just can’t believe it.â€
